BOOK BLOGGER HOP #2 - Do You Like Your Action Early?

NUMBER TWO
Do You Like Early Action?

BOOK BLOGGER HOP is hosted by Billy at Ramblings From A Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog. This week's question was submitted by Maria from A Night's Dream Of Books.

When you start reading a novel, do you prefer to be plunged right into the action, or do you prefer a slower more descriptive introduction to the plot and characters?

Hmm... I once read a book that started high velocity in the first chapter and then slowed to a crawl for for the next quarter of the story; I almost quit reading. I was happy it was a review book, giving it more of a chance than I would a personal read, because it turned out to be fantastic. I guess if the initial action isn't too high, and what comes after isn't too slow, I am okay with it, but I prefer a subtle hook and steady build to the action.
How about you?
